The past week in Photos

I've been making more of an effort this semester to make friends in my different classes which is pretty easy to do in most of my journalism classes because the program is relatively small compared to others such as Political Science or English.

A lot of our classes revolve around discussion and sharing ideas with each other, even in an academic setting this helps you feel people out and decide if you'd like to invite them over for burritos... or whatever.

Mosby (above left) and Mike (left) are in my Photojournalism class and they're probably two of the people I am most excited to get to know. Other photo kids like Aaron and Henry are pretty sweet too but I don't have pictures of them to throw up here.

Something else that has changed this semester is my effort to experiment with cooking more! I've been trying to make spanish rice at least once a week until I master it.

Last night I made chocolate covered strawberries and took a few photos of them. I'm not sure how you "temper" candy but Billy says it would have made them shiny.

Photojournalism is a huge time commitment but it is less stressful than reporting or spanish. A few weeks into this semester and I know for a fact I don't want to be a reporter anymore. I'm not bad at it... I just don't enjoy it as much as photojournalism.

Basically you don't get adrenaline rushes from writing and you don't have to travel to do it. I want a job that mandates travel not just a lot of long distance phone calls.

I constantly feel restless, a problem I've had since the fall of 2007. I've had a taste of the travel life and I can't be content with sitting in a classroom any longer. Even if it does feel good to learn.

I can blame Mr. Dunn (left) for getting me into travel. I alway professed an interest in it but I think it was him that really made me realize that when you talk about travel it's really just put up or shut up. Talking about it doesn't make you seem cool unless you really do it. You need to establish travel street cred.

The same could be said about a lot of things.

Tattoos are a good example of that too. I think Billy and Joe were at one time under the impression I got my wrist tattoo because I was following their epic / substantial lead.

Aaron Hodges (above) finishes my back tattoo on friday and after it's fully healed I will probably have some GOOD pictures taken of it or attempt to shoot it myself.

I've never been great at self portraits though so it should be a pretty nice little challenge.

The most exciting thing that is about to happen is Joey Trisolini visiting me from this coming saturday till next thursday. Joey is a travel kid I met in the summer of 2007 when we were both 19. He is a really cool guy and I have tried and will try to show him a good time in the Bay Area in the hopes of him moving here. That and I just like to play host and do nice things for people.

The semester is almost half over. I just need to stay motivated in some of my classes and get a little more motivated in the rest. Whatever summer brings I can't wait... travel or a classic endless summer is fine with me. I've decided if I get into study abroad I will probably stay home during the summer and work (aka save money for future things).

It's the good life.
