Dog sitting

I've been dog sitting at a house in the sunset for the past week and a half. Riley but especially Ruth put me through my paces the first few days.

Ruth is incredibly food obsessed and ripped open the trash can our first day together and in the following days after at a whole box of raw rigatoni, an entire box of lady finger cookies (count 40) and at least half a can of hot cocoa which meant we've had at least one vet visit.

They really are sweet though and we went on a nice long walk this morning. Long enough for Ruth to stop pulling on her leash.

The Spring Break hasn't felt like a spring break so far. There's been too much sleeping in of course but besides needing to read a bit most SB's involve zero responsibility. Having these dogs is like having children I suppose. When you come home at the end of the day you want to read, relax, make a phone call or two... but there are two little creatures needing food, exercise and attention.

Little creatures? I meant beasts.

Even though I've been leaving the house for extended periods of time for no reason I definitely gotten more restless with being here. Here as in San Francisco (not the house).

Being in class gives me a daily purpose with less time of disengagement. I have too much time to think to myself *MeXicoThaiLanDItaLyPArIsOaXacaaTrani*... images of toasty beaches, blue water, bustling cities full of confusing syllables, posh European cafés and grungy street food stalls in latin america drift through my head as frequently as the lurid images in a pre-pubescent boys head.

The people I am dog sitting for are in Vietnam for three weeks. Nick is in Paris. Joey is coming back to California (LA this time) for the second time in two weeks. Erin of my Spanish class is in Thailand. Taryn is in Paris. Laura is in London.

I don't resent taking the job. I'm enjoying it and I didn't have the money to go anywhere anyways.

I'm craving away nonetheless.

The Travel is constantly on (like now) even if it's a show I don't like (Man Vs. Food).

The Travel Channel should give Billy and I a show... If it pays the bills I will take on Andrew Zimerman any day!
